The team has previous played in the series in 1997, 2001, 2004, 2011. It has managed to enter in the Quarterfinals two times, in 2001 and 2004. The main reason behind the selection of Costa Rica to be played in this year’s COPA tournament is their tremendous victory in 2014 COPA Centrroamericana. Costa Rica has been added as a team in the Group A along with the USA, Colombia and Paraguay teams. It will play following 3 matches before the Quarterfinals from June 4 to June 11.
